About Me

My name is Matthew Ramirez and I am 20 years old mixed with Mexican and Thai. Being young and unaware I would always ask my mom how did you and dad meet if you guys were born so fare apart? My mom was born in Thailand, and my Dad was born in Mexico and they both met in Atwater because my Grandpa was in the air force stationed there. I was born in the small City of Merced directly in the middle of California but lived in Atwater where my parents had meet and went to school together. Growing up in Atwater you pretty much know everyone because it is so small. In my household it was always my mom, brother, sister, and I always outside having fun. At a young age my parents got a divorce and I spent majority of the time with my mom. My mom gave me everything a kid can ask for, she put me in 3 sports year round, always was on top of me for my grades, and just made sure i was always comfortable and the best I can be. As i started to get into my teens I started to spend a lot more time with my dad and his side of the family, and really enjoyed the two totally different cultures and the foods they make.

Having to go back and fourth to two different families isn’t as fun as you think. All growing up I hated the fact that every other weekend i had to go to my dads, where i wasn’t used to and uncomfortable, and stay for the weekend. Me being a teenager i always wanted to be with friends for the weekend, but when I went to my dads I couldn’t do that. It was also a struggle to get a close relationship with my dad like my two older siblings. In the end my dad and I built a strong relationship and continue to cherish every moment we have together. This was a big thing in my life at the time because i grew up watch my brother and sister have a great relationship with him, while I had none.

As a little kid growing up playing sports like Baseball, Football, and Wrestling you always have a dream of becoming a professional player at anything. My love was really with baseball and football as I continued to play those all the way up to high school. Playing in a team sport can show you a lot in life and not just about the sport. To me I enjoyed the aspect of playing all together and not being able to win unless everyone does good and not just yourself.

Blog prompt 3 (2/13)

Baseball is the greatest sport of all time because it is fun to play. “You didn’t play college football at a D1 school, so how could you even be good?” Every time there is a bark of wood on the floor, my dog will bark and play with it. Coach: Did I give you the…
